Take Your Child To Work Day

Michigan State University is proud to participate in the national Take Your Child to Work Day event on Thursday, April 28, 2016. This year’s theme is “Sparking Aha! Moments: Discovering Possibilities at MSU.”

There are many benefits for your department, employees, and children to participating in Take Your Child to Work Day at MSU. Some of these benefits include:

– Showcasing your programs and facilities to other MSU employees
– Exposing the educational opportunities at MSU to future Spartans
– Promoting pride and teamwork in the work of MSU employees

Through programs like Take Your Child to Work Day, employers throughout the United States have provided young people with the opportunity to observe women and men who are exemplars of success. Exposing children to what a parent or mentor in their lives does during the work day is important for increasing self-esteem, providing exposure to positive role models and providing positive publicity for MSU.

The staff and volunteers of the MSU Women’s Resource Center (WRC) and the Family Resource Center (FRC) coordinate this event. Participation in the day’s activities can occur at many levels, and we hope that you will join us! The day’s schedule allows for participation to be flexible and enjoyable.

Job shadowing is also an option throughout the day, provided it has been approved by the unit administrator(s). A complete listing of tour sites and activities with brief descriptions will be posted on the MSU Women’s Resource Center website (http://wrc.msu.edu) beginning Friday, April 22, 2016. For planning purposes, a tentative schedule is attached. Questions? Contact the MSU Women’s Resource Center at 517-353-1635 or [email protected].
